The Cut-leaved hellebore (Helleborus multifidus) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is found in south-central Europe, ranging from Sicily to Italy and the western Balkans. It grows in dry limestone regions among shrubs and grasslands, reaching a height of 30 to 45 cm. The leaves are deciduous and deeply lobed, with the lobes extending nearly to the base. Young leaves have a purplish tint. From February to March, it produces flower stalks bearing green flowers that face outward. The anthers are cream-color.
