南アメリカ北部が原産です。高さは１〜１．５メートルくらいになります。赤い苞のなかに黄橙色の花があります。その花のかたちから、「おうむばな（鸚鵡花）」と呼ばれることもあります。 |

バショウ科ヘリコニア属の多年草で、学名は Heliconia psittacorum。英名は Parrot beak flower。 |

The parrot beak flower (Heliconia psittacorum) belongs to Musaceae (the Banana family). It is a perennial herb that is native to nothern South America. This herb can reach 1-1.5 m in height. The yellow-orange flowers bloom in the red bracts. |
