The "Hera-omodaka" (Alisma canaliculatum) belongs to Alismataceae (the Water-plantain family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to Japan, as well as Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula, China and Southeast Asia. This herb grows in ponds, bogs or waste lowlands and can reach 50-100 cm in height. The leaves are lanceolate to narrow-oblong with long petioles and crowded. The compound whorled racemes are borne on the flowering stalks and bloom small white flowers from July to October. It is defined that some of leaves blight in summer. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "窄葉澤瀉" and "窄葉澤瀉" (zhai ye ze xie).
