"Hime-shiro-asaza" (Nymphoides coreana) belongs to the family Menyanthaceae. It is a perennial herb that is distributed from the Kanto district west of Honshu to Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan, as well as Taiwan, the Korean Peninsula, and China. It grows in ponds, marshes, and rice paddies, and its kidney-shaped leaves float on the surface of the water in clusters. In Taiwanese, it is called "小莕菜", and in Chinese, "小荇菜" (xiao xing cai).
