アメリカのカリフォルニア州、ネバダ州、テキサス州の西部からメキシコの中部にかけて分布しています。乾燥地帯に生えて、高さは３０〜９０センチほどになります。灰緑色の葉は円形から長楕円形で、縁には鋸歯があります。３月から５月ごろと、８月から１１月ごろに淡いピンク色から藤色の花を咲かせます。中心部は濃いピンク色です。雄しべは花柱にくっついています。

アオイ科フヨウ属の落葉小低木で、学名は Hibiscus denudatus。英名は Paleface、Rock hibiscus。

The Paleface (Hibiscus denudatus) belongs to Malvaceae (the Mallow family). It is a deciduous shrub that is distributed from California, Nevada, and western Texas in the United States to central Mexico. It grows in arid areas and is 30-90 cm tall. The gray-green leaves are round to elliptic with serrated edges, and the pale pink to wisteria-colored flowers bloom from March to May and from August to November. The center is dark pink. The stamens are attached to the style.
