The Red rosemallow (Hibiscus kokio) belongs to Malvaceae (the Mallow family). It is a small evergreen tree that is found in the Hawaiian Islands of Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii. It grows in dry to moist forests. The leaves are ovate and shiny with blunt serrations on the edges. The flowers are red to orange-red. The sepals are tubular and yellow. The filaments are recurved. The photo is said to be a salmon pink type, but it may be a hybrid.
