ハワイ諸島にあるカウアイ島の固有種です。ワイメア渓谷の上流から西部の海岸、それに北部の海岸にかけて生えています。高さは６〜１０メートルほどになります。葉は広卵状楕円形で、縁には鈍鋸歯があります。枝先の近くに、芳香の強い白い花を咲かせます。午後になると、花弁がピンク色がかってきます。

アオイ科フヨウ属の常緑低木で、学名は Hibiscus waimeae。英名はありません。

The Hibiscus waimeae belongs to Malvaceae (the Mallow family). It is a small evergreen tree that is endemic to Kauai in the Hawaiian Islands. It grows from the upper Waimea Valley to the western coast and the northern coast. It grows 6 to 10 m tall. The leaves are broadly ovate-elliptic with bluntly serrated edges. Aromatic white flowers bloom near the ends of the branches. In the afternoon, the petals turn pinkish.
