ひごくさ (籤草) [Index] [Back] わが国の各地に分布しています。道ばたや林縁などに生え、高さは３０〜４０センチになります。細長い根茎があり、疎らに叢生します。４月から５月ごろ、花茎を伸ばして、茎頂に雄小穂と下部に雌小穂をつけます。若い雌小穂は、長く伸びた白い柱頭に被われます。名前は、細い茎が「竹籤（たけひご）」に似ていることから。 カヤツリグサ科スゲ属の多年草で、学名は Carex japonica。英名はありません。 "Higo-kusa" (Carex japonica) belongs to Cyperaceae (the Sedge family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed throughout Japan. This sedge grows on roadsides or outskirts of woods and can reach 30-40 cm in height. It has elongated rhizomes and grows sparingly crowding. It is borne the apical male spikelets and lower female spikelets.
