The Tufted poppy (Eschscholzia caespitosa) belongs to Papaveraceae (the Poppy family). It is an annual herb that is native to the U.S. states of Oregon and California. It grows in mountain forests, valley meadows, and dry plains, reaching a height of 15 to 30 cm. The leaves are gray-green or blue-green and deeply lobed. From March to May, it produces flower stalks bearing pale yellow to yellow flowers 2 to 3 cm in diameter. The fruit is a capsule, 4 to 8 cm long.
