The hedge bindweed (Calystegia sepium) belong to Convolvulaceae (the Bindweed family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed widely throughout Europe, Asia, northwestern Africa, and North America, and Australia, and Argentina in South America. This herb grows in fields, rodesides and open woods. It twines around other plants and can reach 2-4 m in height. The leaves are arrowhead shaped and arranged spirally. The flowers are funnel-shaped, 3-7 cm diameter, white, or pale pink with white stripes and bloom from late spring to the end of summer.
