The Hypericum hookerianum belongs to the family Clusiaceae. It is a deciduous shrub that is distributed around the Himalayas, from western China to Thailand, Myanmar, and India. It is a 1.2 to 1.8 m tall shrub with ovate to oblong leaves that grow in pairs. Yellow flowers, about 5 cm in diameter, bloom in cymes at the ends of branches from July to August. Its Chinese name is "短柱金絲桃" (duan zhu jin si tao).
