この植物園での種名札は「Potentilla davurica 'Mandshurica'」、和名では「ちしまひめぎんろばい（千島姫銀露梅）」と呼ばれ、色丹島産と伝えられているそうです。種小名の「dahurica」は、ラテン語でシベリアを表す「dahuria」に因みます。この園芸品種は矮性で高さは３０センチほど、マウンドを形成します。新梢は濃いピンク色、葉は小さな羽状複葉で銀灰色をしています。夏から秋にかけて、直径３センチほどの白い花を咲かせます。わが国でも「ひめぎんろばい（姫銀露梅）」という名前で流通しているものだと思います。

The Shrubby cinquefoil 'Manchu' (Dasiphora fruticosa var. glabra 'Manchu') belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a deciduous shrub that is a dwarf variety. The species name tag in this botanical garden is "Potentilla davurica 'Mandshurica'" and the Japanese name is "Chishima-hime-ginrobai", and it is said to be from Shikotan Island. The specific epithet "dahurica" is derived from the Latin word "dahuria", meaning Siberia. This cultivar is dwarf, about 30 cm tall, and forms mounds. The shoots are dark pink and the leaves are small pinnate and silvery gray. It produces white flowers about 3 cm in diameter from summer to fall. I believe it is also distributed in Japan under the name "Hime-ginrobai".
