The Dumortier's daylily (Hemerocallis dumortieri) belongs to Liliaceae (the Lily family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Korean Peninsula. Some records also indicate distribution in southern Jilin Province, China, and the Russian Far East. It grows to a height of 25-50 cm. The leaves are linear and slender, nearly as long as the scape. From May to June, it produces a rising, cymose inflorescence on the scape, bearing 2-4 orange-yellow flowers. The tips of the buds are reddish-brown. The flowers open early in the morning and close by the next morning.
