ヨーロッパに広く分布しています。乾燥した砂質の草地に生え、高さは２０〜４０センチになります。葉は狭い倒披針形で、茎葉は針形です。初夏から秋にかけて花茎を伸ばし、紫色の花を咲かせます。早くから改良が進められ、園芸品種も多く、欧米ではポピュラーな花となっています。 |

The Maiden pink ( Dianthus deltoides) belongs to Caryophyllaceae (the Carnation family). It is a perennial herb that is widely distributed in Europe. It grows in dry, sandy meadows and is 20-40 cm tall. The leaves are narrowly oblanceolate, and the cauline leaves are needle-shaped. Flower stalks grow from early summer to fall, and purple flowers bloom. It has been improved since early times, and many garden varieties are available, making it a popular flower in Europe and the United States. |
