ひめうすのき (姫臼の木) [Index] [Back] わが国の本州、中部地方以北に分布しています。亜高山帯の針葉樹林の林内や林縁に生え、高さは１０〜３０センチになります。枝には鋭い４稜があり、ジグザクに曲がります。葉は卵形から広卵形で、鋸歯があり、互生します。５月から６月ごろ、枝先に黄白色の壺形の花を１個ずつ咲かせます。果実は倒卵状球形で、７月から９月に紅色に熟します。  ツツジ科スノキ属の落葉小低木で、学名は Vaccinium yatabei。英名はありません。  "Hime-usunoki" (Vaccinium yatabei) belongs to Ericaceae (the Azalea family). It is a deciduous shrub that is native northward from Chubu district of Honshu. This shrub grows in sub-alpine coniferous forests and edges, and it can reach 10-30 cm in height. The branches are acute quadrangular, and zigzag divaricating. The leaves are ovate to broad ovate, serrate and arranged in alternate. The yellowish white, urn-shaped, solitary flower bloom atop of branch from May to June.
