The Slender deutzia (Deutzia gracilis) belongs to Hydrangeaceae (the Hydrangea family). It is a small deciduous tree that is native westward from Kanto district of Honshu to Shikoku and Kyushu of Japan. This tree grows in montane cliffs and can reach about 1 m in height. The leaves are lanceolate to ellipric and alternate. It is defined by far less stellate hairs than Deutzia. The fragrant white flowers come in May to June. Slender deutzia and Deutzia are usually planted in gardens.
