アフリカが原産です。栽培されている「ナス」の近縁で、高さは１メートルほどになります。丈夫なので「なす」の台木として利用されたり、観賞用として栽培されます。果実は白色から黄色、オレンジ色、赤色へと変化します。別名で「あかなす（赤茄子）」とも呼ばれ、「フォックスフェイス」と同じように、水を必要としない花材としても利用されます。 |

ナス科ナス属の一年草で、学名は Solanum intergrifolium。英名は Chinese scarlet egg plant、Ruffled tomato。 |

The Chinese scarlet egg plant (Solanum intergrifolium) belongs to Solanaceae (the Nightshade family). It is an annual herb that is native to Africa. This herb is closely related to cultivated "eggplant" and its height is about 1 m. Because it is strong, it is used as a rootstock of "eggplant" or cultivated for ornamental use. The fruit changes from white to yellow, orange, red. Also known as "Aka-nasu (red eggplant)", it is also used as a flower material that does not require water, just like "Foxface". |
