The "Hitotsuba-shike-shida" (Deparia x lobatocrenata) belongs to the family Dryopteridaceae. It is a summer-green fern that is distributed from the Kanto region of Honahu westward to Shikoku and Kyushu in Japan. It rarely grows in mountainous areas and is 30-50 cm tall. The leaves are more or less dimorphic, but they are single-lobed, parted to completely lobed, and single-pinnate at the base. The petiole is narrow and has straw-colored scales. The sorus is linear, usually one per vein. It is believed to be an interspecific hybrid of the "Hera-shida" (Diplazium subsinuatum) and the "Shike-shida" (Deparia japonica).
