The Tongue fern (Pyrrosia lingua) belongs to the family Polypodiaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed westward from Kanto district of Honshu to Shikoku, Kyushu of Japan, as well as widely in the eastern Asia. This fern grows in coastal forest of warm-temperate areas. The rhizomes are long, creeping and send out thick leaves. The leaves are consist of sterile fronds and fertile fronds with sori on the abaxial sides. The 7th and 8th photos are a form "Eboshi-hitotsuba". In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "Έ¯".
