わが国の本州、その日本海側に分布しています。亜高山帯から高山帯に生え、高さは1メートルほどになります。葉は長楕円状披針形で先端は尖り、互生します。裏面には綿毛が密生します。7月から9月ごろ、円錐花序をだして小さな頭花を下向きに咲かせます。

キク科ヨモギ属の多年草で、学名は Artemisia monophylla。英名はありません。

The "Hitotsuba-yomogi" (Artemisia monophylla) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed to the Japan Sea side of Honshu in Japan. This herb grows in sub-alpine to alpine zone and can reach about 1 m in height. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate and alternate with acute tips. The dense wooly hairs are covered on the abaxial sides. The panicles are borne and bloom small flower-heads descending from July to September.
