オーストラリアのニューサウスウェールズ州が原産です。荒野や草原の湿ったところに生え、高さは３．６〜４．５メートルになります。葉は狭披針形で細長く、春から初夏にかけてブラシ状の花序をつけ、緋紅色をした雄しべの目立つ花を咲かせます。

フトモモ科ブラシノキ属の常緑低木で、学名は Callistemon linearis。英名は Narrow-leaved bottlebrush, Red bottlebrush。

The narrow-leaved bottlebrush (Callistemon linearis) belongs to Myrtaceae (the Myrtle family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native to New South Wales of Australia. This tree grows in wet wastelands or fields and can reach 3.6-4.5 m in height. The leaves are narrow lanceolate. Brush like inflorescences are borne with distinct scarlet stamens from spring to early summer.
