ほけいちく (哺鶏竹)

中国の中東部、江蘇省南部から浙江省北部が原産です。成長が早く、桿の直径７〜８センチ、高さは１２メートルほどになります。葉は大きくて垂れ下がり、節には白い環紋があります。また時折、桿にクリーム色の縦縞がはいることがあります。４月下旬にでるタケノコは苦みがなく食用にされます。別名で「はくほけいちく（白哺鶏竹）」とも呼ばれます。中国語では「白哺鶏竹（bai bu ji zhu）」です。 |

イネ科マダケ属のタケ類で、学名は Phyllostachys dulcis。英名は Sweetshoot bamboo。 |

The Sweetshoot bamboo (Phyllostachys dulcis) belongs to Poaceae (the Grass family). It is a bamboo that is native to central and eastern China, from southern Jiangsu to northern Zhejiang. It grows quickly, with a diameter of 7 to 8 cm of culm and a height of about 12 m. The leaves are large and drooping, with white annulations on the nodes. The bamboo shoots, which appear in late April, are edible without bitterness. In Chinese, it is called "白哺鶏竹" (bai bu ji zhu). |
