アフリカが原産です。高さは１．２〜１．８メートルほどになります。水分と十分な日差しがあれば、一年中開花しています。花はピンク色のお皿のうえに、青紫色のチョウチョウがとまった感じです。これを英名では、「タヒチの帽子」に見立てています。

クマツヅラ科ホルムショルディア属の常緑低木で、学名は Holmskioldia tettensis。英名は Tahitian hat plant。

The Tahitian hat plant (Holmskioldia tettensis) belongs to Verbenaceae (the Verbena family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native to Africa. The height will be about 1.2-1.8 m. If there is moisture and enough sunlight, it blooms all year round. The flowers look like a blue-violet butterfly on a pink plate. In English, this is regarded as a "Tahitian hat".
