ヨーロッパアルプスからピレネー山脈に分布しています。一属一種です。標高１０００〜２５００メートルの山地草原や潅木帯に生え、高さは４５センチほどになります。葉は卵形で鈍鋸歯があり、キルティングのようなしわがあります。５月から９月ごろ、茎の上部に穂状花序をだし、濃い紫色の筒状花を咲かせます。

シソ科ホルミヌム属の多年草で、学名は Horminum pyrenaicum。英名は Dragon-mouth、Pyrenean dead-nettle。

The dragon-mouth (Horminum pyrenaicum) belongs to Lamiaceae (the Mint family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the Alps and the Pyrenees. It is a the only species in the genus Horminum. This herb grows in upland meadows or thickets 1000-2500 m elevation and can reach about 45 cm in height. The leaves are ovate and quilted with obtuse toothed edges. The spikes are borne on the upper stems and the dark purple tubular flowers bloom from May to September.
