わが国の本州、関東地方以西から四国・九州、それに朝鮮半島や中国に分布しています。湿地に生え、高さは４０〜８０センチになります。葉は線状披針形で幅は１センチ以下、軟毛があり、互生します。７月から１０月ごろ、茎頂に黄色い頭花を咲かせます。頭花は直径２０〜２５ミリで、舌状花の先は分裂します。

キク科オグルマ属の多年草で、学名は Inula britannica ssp. linariaefolia。英名はありません。

"Hosoba-oguruma" (Inula britannica ssp. linariaefolia) belongs to Asteraceae (the Aster family). It is a perennial herb that is distributed westward from Kanto district of Honshu to Shikoku and Kyushu, as well as the Korean Peninsula and China. This herb grows in marshes and can reach 40-80 cm in height. The leaves are linear lanceolate, less than 1 cm wide, softly hairy and arranged in alternate. The yellow flower-heads bloom at the top of stems from July to October. The flower-head is 20-25 mm in diameter with divided ray flowers.
