"Hosoba-torikabuto" (Aconitum senanense) belongs to Ranunculaceae (the Buttercup family). It is a perennial herb that is endemic to Japan and is distributed from the Chubu region north to the Kanto region of Honshu. It grows in sunny meadows in the subalpine to alpine zones and is 40 to 100 cm tall. The stems are erect, and the leaves have three deep lobes almost to the base, and the lobes have two or three more lobes. The blue-purple flowers, which resemble helmets, are produced in corymbs at the end of the stem from August to September. The peduncle is densely covered with open hairs and appears whitish, along with two braclets.
