The Hoya fungii belongs to Asclepiadaceae (the Milkweed family). It is an evergreen shrub that is found in Guangdong, Jiangxi, Yunnan, and Hainan Island in southern China. It grows in bright forests at altitudes of 300 to 1000 m and attaches itself to other trees. From April to September, white flowers similar to those of Hoya carnosa bloom from the leaf axils in drooping, radiate umbels. Its Chinese name is "護耳草" (hu er cao).
