ヒロケレウス・レマイレイ [Index] [Back] 柱状サボテンで南アメリカの北部およびカリブ海諸島が原産です。多肉質で常緑、木の枝や地面の上によじ登って潅木状になります。また自分自身を支えるために気根をだします。茎は直径２〜３センチです。花は白く、蝙蝠媒花です。果実は赤色で裂開し、鳥の好むところです。  サボテン科ヒロケレウス属の柱サボテンで、学名は Hylocereus lemairei。英名は Red pitaya。  The red pitaya (Hylocereus lemairei) belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a treelike cuctus that is native to northern South America, and the Caribbean islands. This cactus is a succulent, evergreen, climbing shrub that can grow in the branches of trees or on the ground. It produces aerial roots which it uses to support itself. The stems are 2-3 cm in diameter. The flower is white and bat pollinated.
