わが国の本州、石川県から兵庫県の日本海側と台湾に分布しています。やせた岩地に生え、高さは１〜３メートルになります。葉はゆがんだ卵形から広卵形で互生します。３月から４月ごろ、葉の展開に先立って淡黄色の花を下垂して咲かせます。雄しべの葯が黄色いのが特徴です。別名で「いよみずき（伊予水木）」とも呼ばれ、台湾華語では「小葉瑞木」と呼ばれます。 |

マンサク科トサミズキ属の落葉低木で、学名は Corylopsis pauciflora。英名は Buttercup winter hazel。 |

The Buttercup winter hazel (Corylopsis pauciflora) belongs to Hamamelidaceae (the Witch hazel family). It is a small deciduous tree that is distributed to the Japan Sea Side of Honshu, westward from Ishikawa prefecture to Hyogo prefecture of Japan and Taiwan. This tree grows in infertile rocky places and can reach 1-3 m in height. The leaves are irregular ovate to broad ovate and alternate. The drooping pale yellow flowers come in March to April before foliation. In Taiwanese Chinese, it is called "小葉瑞木". |
