マダガスカル島の南部が原産です。サバンナや山地に生え、母種のロスラーツム種（Pachypodium roslatum）よりも小型です。平滑な幹は緑灰色で、円錐状の棘が生えています。濃緑色の葉は細く、枝の先端に叢生します。葉は乾燥すると落葉します。春に長い花茎を伸ばして、黄色い花を咲かせます。

キョウチクトウ科パキポジウム属の常緑低木で、学名は Pachypodium rosulatum var. horombense。英名はありません。

The Pachypodium rosulatum var. horombense belongs Apocynaceae (the Dogbane family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native to the southern part of Madagascar. It grows in savannas and mountains and is smaller than its mother species, Pachypodium roslatum. The smooth trunk is greenish-gray with conical spines. The dark green leaves are narrow and grow in clusters at the tips of the branches. Leaves are deciduous when dry. Long flower stalks grow in spring and produce yellow flowers.
