メキシコ中部のサンルイスポトシが原産です。高さは２０センチほどになります。淡いラベンダー色のふっくらした葉は白い粉をまとっています。春、茎の先に淡いクリーム色の花を咲かせます。園芸上は「ほしびじん（星美人）」と呼ばれます。

ベンケイソウ科パキフィツム属の常緑多年草で、学名は Pachyphytum oviferum。英名は Moon-stones、Sugared almond plant。

The Moon-stones (Pachyphytum oviferum) belongs to Crassulaceae (the Orpine family). It is an evergreen herb that is native to San Luis Potosi in central Mexico. It grows to about 20 cm tall. The pale lavender plump leaves are covered with white powder. Pale cream-colored flowers bloom at the ends of the stems in spring. Horticulturally, it is called "hoshi-bijin" (star beauty) in Japan.
