西アフリカの熱帯地域に分布しています。葉は剣状で大きく、長さは９０〜１２０センチになります。３０センチほどの花茎を伸ばして、円柱状の花序に小さな白い花を咲かせます。果実は鮮やかな朱色をしています。写真は、園芸品種の「エリザベサエ（cv. Elizabethae）」で、葉の真ん中に緑白色の斑がはいります。

ツユクサ科パリソタ属の常緑多年草で、学名は Palisota pynaertii。英名はありません。

|
Palisota pynaertii belongs to Commelinaceae (the Spiderwort family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to the west tropical Africa. The leaves are sword shaped and can be up to 90-120 cm long. The flowering stalks about 30 cm long are borne and the small white flowers bloom in the columnar clusters. The fruit is bright vermillion. The photos are a cultivar 'Elizabethae' which has greenish white stripes in the middle of the leaves.
