The Paphiopedilum wardii belongs to Orchidaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is native to northern Burma to southwest China. This herb is terrestrial and grows in the mountains at 1200-1500 m elevation. The leaves are light green mottled dark green, with reddish purple spotting on the undersides. The flower is borne singly on an erect spike and about 10 cm across. The dorsal sepal is white with prominent green stripes, the petals are broad, greenish yellow and spotted reddish brown, the lip is yellow and reddish brown.
