The Parodia magnifica belongs to Cactaceae (the Cactus family). It is a columnar cactus that is native to southern Brazil. This cactus grows in cool, dry temperate grassland at elevations of up to 800 m. It grows to 7-15 cm tall by 45 cm broad. This cactus is heavily ribbed, spherical to columnar, spiny and hairy stems, bearing pale yellow flowers in summer.
