ヨーロッパの中部から南部、アフリカ北部が原産です。わが国へは江戸時代に渡来しました。和名では「オランダぜり」と呼ばれます。濃い緑色の縮れた葉が特徴で、2年目の夏に緑がかった黄色の花が咲き、種子ができると枯れてしまいます。ポピュラ−な料理用ハ−ブで、肉や野菜料理の飾りに使われます。利尿や生理痛、殺菌にも効果があるといわれます。 
セリ科オランダゼリ属の二年草で、学名は Petroselinum crispum。英名は Parsley。 
The Parsley (Petroselinum crispum) belongs to Apiaceae (the Carrot family). It is a biennial herb that is native to central and south Europe, northern Africa. This herb was introduced into Japan in Edo Era (about 300 years ago). This herb is defined by the dark green curly leaves. It blooms the greenish yellow flowers in second summer and it is blighted after fruiting. Parsley is a popular cooking herb that is used for meat and vegetable dishes. It is used for positive effects in diuresis, cramps or sterilization.
