中央アメリカのメキシコからペルーに分布しています。丘陵から山地の斜面に生え、蔓性で９メートルにも伸びます。葉は３〜５中裂し、裏面にはかぎ爪状の糸状体があります。花は直径７センチほどの白色で、基部は紫色です。果実は楕円形の液果で、紫色に熟しますが、強い毒性があります。

トケイソウ科トケイソウ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Passiflora adenopoda。英名はありません。

The Passiflora adenopoda belongs to Passifloraceae (the Passion flower family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed from Mexico to Peru in Central America. It grows on hillsides and mountain slopes and is a vine, growing up to 9 m long. The leaves have three to five medium lobes and a claw-like filamentous underside. The flowers are 7 cm in diameter and white with a purple base. The fruit is an elliptic berry that ripens to a purple color and is highly toxic.
