メキシコからコロンビア、ボリビアにかけて分布しています。大きな葉はごく浅く３裂して、コウモリのようなかたちをしています。幅は２０センチ以上にもなります。７月から１０月ごろ、直径２〜３センチほどの緑白色の花を咲かせます。花は午前中の早くに開き、夕方前には閉じてしまいます。

トケイソウ科トケイソウ属の常緑低木で、学名は Passiflora coriacea。英名は Bat-leaf passion flower。

The Bat-leaf passion flower (Passiflora coriacea) belongs to Passifloraceae (the Passion flower family). It is a small evergreen tree that is distributed from Mexico to Colombia and Bolivia. The large leaves have three very shallow lobes and are bat-like in shape. The greenish-white flowers, 2 to 3 cm in diameter, bloom from July to October. The flowers open early in the morning and close before evening.
