南アメリカ北部のエクアドルに分布しています。蔓性で他の樹木などに絡みついて伸び、長さは４〜５メートルほどになります。葉はふつう羽状に浅く２裂します。花は直径３センチほどで濃いピンク色です。果実は暗赤色になります。

トケイソウ科トケイソウ属の常緑小低木で、学名は Passiflora sanguinolenta。英名は Blood-red passion flower。

The Blood-red passion flower (Passiflora sanguinolenta) belongs to Passifloraceae (the Passion flower family). It is an evergreen shrub that is distributed in Ecuador in northern South America. It grows as a vine, twining itself around other trees and other plants, and can reach a length of 4 to 5 m. The leaves are usually pinnately lobed with two shallow lobes. The flowers are about 3 cm in diameter and dark pink. The fruits are dark red.
