熱帯アメリカが原産です。現在ではアメリカのフロリダ州やサウスカロライナ州の海岸地域に帰化しているそうです。高さは１．２〜１．８メートルになります。夏から秋にかけて、黄色い５弁花を咲かせます。果実は、１個の花から５個の果実ができる分離果です。

The Gingerbush (Pavonia spinifex) belongs to Malvaceae (the Mallow family). It is a small evergreen treeb that is native to tropical America. It has now naturalized in the coastal areas of Florida and South Carolina in the United States. It grows 1.2 to 1.8 m tall. It produces yellow 5-petaled flowers from summer to fall. The fruit is a schizocarp, which produces five fruits from one flower.
