オーストラリア、クイーンズランド州の南東部に分布しています。明るい森や林地などに生え、高さは５メートルほどになります。本当の葉はなく、茎が平たく葉状になった仮葉がつきます。仮葉は銀灰色で、卵形をしています。冬の終わりから早春、仮葉の腋からでる球状花序に、黄金色の花を咲かせます。

ネムノキ科アカシア属の常緑低木で、学名は Acacia podalyriifolia。英名は Queensland silver wattle。

The Queensland silver wattle (Acacia podalyriifolia) belongs to Mimosaceae (the Mimosa family). It is a small evergreen tree that is native to south-eastern Queensland, Australia. This tree grows in open forests and woodlands, and can reach about 5 m in height. It does not have true leaves but has leaf-like flattened stems called phyllodes. They are silvery gray and oval in shape. The golden yellow flowers bloom in ball-shaped clusters in the axils of the phyllodes from late winter to early spring.
