The beakless red lousewort (Pedicularis recutita) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is native to Europe; the Alps. This herb grows in meadows, damp or shady places, 1500-2500 m elavation, and can reach 20-40 cm in height. The leaves are pinnately-lobed. The flowers are greenish-yellow tinged dull crimson, and bloom in dense spikes from July to August. The upper lip is not beaked.
