ニュージーランドをはじめオセアニアに分布しています。楕円形から円形の羽片が交互にならぶ単羽状複葉で、長さは３０〜４０センチほどになります。羽片は濃緑色で、葉柄は黒褐色をしています。別名で「ボタンファーン」とも呼ばれます。

ウラボシ科ペラエア属の常緑シダ類で、学名は Pellaea rotundifolia。英名は Roundleaf fern, Buttonleaf fern。

The Roundleaf fern (Pellaea rotundifolia) belongs to the family Polypodiaceae. It is an evergreen fern that is distributed in New Zealand and other parts of Oceania. It has single pinnate compound leaves with alternating elliptic to circular pinnae that are 30 to 40 cm long. The pinnae are dark green and the petiole is blackish brown. It is also known as "Buttonleaf fern".
