The Cleveland's beardtongue (Penstemon clevelandii) belongs to Scrophulariaceae (the Figwort family). It is a perennial herb that is native to southern California and is also found in western North America. This herb grows in Creosote bush scrub, Joshua tree woodland, and chaparral, and it can reach about 70 cm in height. The leaves are thick, oval in shape, sometimes toothed, and 2-6 centimeters in length. The flowers are tubular, pink to magenta in color with expanded, lipped mouths.
