ブラジルが原産です。マウンドを形成し、高さ２０センチ、幅２０センチに成長する着生植物です。 葉はハート型で濃い緑色、深い波状の表面があります。 葉の色は波形に沿って黒色に近いです。 長い穂状花序の小さな白っぽい緑色の花は、夏から初秋に、細い赤みがかった花茎の上に咲きます。 多くの栽培品種が開発されました。写真は、園芸品種の「フロスト（cv. Frost）」です。

The Emerald ripple peperomia (Peperomia caperata) belongs to Piperaceae (the Pepper family). It is an evergreen perennial that is native to Brazil. It is an epiphytic plant that is a mound-forming and growing to 20 cm tall and wide. The leaves are heart-shaped, dark green, and deeply veined with an attractive corrugated surface. The leaf color is close to black along the corrugations. The tiny, whitish-green flowers in long spikes bloom in summer and early fall atop thin reddish flower stalks. The numerous cultivars have been developed. The photos are a cultivar 'Frost'.
