東南アジアのタイからビルマに分布しています。雨林に生え、樹木や岩上に着生します。茎は非常に短く、鱗片状の葉鞘に包まれます。葉は卵状披針形から長楕円状披針形で１〜５個つきます。長さ３０〜９０センチの花茎を伸ばし、直径３５〜５０ミリの淡いピンク色の花を咲かせます。唇弁は３裂します。種小名は、イギリスの園芸業者のヒュー・ロー（Hugh Low）に因みます。

The Phalaenopsis lowii belongs to Orchdaceae (the Orchid family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed in Southeast Asia from Thailand to Burma. It grows in rainforests and attaches itself to trees and rocks. The stem is very short and wrapped in a scaly leaf sheath. The leaves are ovate-lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, with one to five leaflets. It produces a 30-90 cm long scape with pale pink flowers 35-50 mm in diameter. The labellum has three lobes. The specific epithet is named after Hugh Low, an English horticulturist.
