The Philodendron undulatum belongs to Araceae (the Arum family). It is an evergreen perennial herb that is distributed in southeastern Brazil, Paraguay, and northeastern Argentina in South America. It grows in tropical rainforests and wetlands, and its woody stems can grow to a height of 5 m. The leaves are large, ovate-cordate or ovate-lanceolate, deeply divided into lobes, and have a petiole. The flowers are in a spadix, and are covered by bract leaves that are greenish-white on the outside and purple on the inside. The fruit is about the size of an olive.
