東アジアの中国東北部からアムール川（黒竜江）地域、朝鮮半島に分布しています。標高２０００メートルあたりの山地に生育します。高さは１〜２メートルほどになり、葉は先端が３裂しています。６月から７月ごろ、散房花序に白い花を咲かせます。なお、テマリシモツケ属は、北アメリカと東アジア東部の亜寒帯地域にだけ分布します。

バラ科テマリシモツケ属の落葉低木で、学名は Physocarpus amurensis。英名は Amur ninebark。

The Amur ninebark (Physocarpus amurensis) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small deciduous tree that is distributed in East Asia from northeastern China to the Amur River (Heilongjiang) region and the Korean Peninsula. It grows in mountainous areas at elevations of around 2000 m. White flowers bloom in June to July in clustered inflorescences. The genus Physocarpus is distributed only in the subarctic regions of North America and eastern Asia.
