ヨーロッパのアルプスやアペニン山脈、ピレネー山脈に分布しています。標高１０００〜２６００メートルの草地に生え、高さは３０〜５０センチになります。基部の葉は卵状披針形で、基部は切形、縁には鋸歯があります。上部の葉は線形です。６月から８月ごろ、長さ４センチほどの円筒状の穂状花序をだし、小さな赤紫色の花を咲かせます。

キキョウ科フィテウーマ属の多年草で、学名は Phyteuma betonicifolium。英名はありません。

The Phyteuma betonicifolium belongs to Campanulaceae (the Bellflower family). It is a perennial herb that is native to the European mountains; the Alps, the Apennines and the Pyrenees. This herb grows in grasslands 1000-2600 m elevation and can reach 30-50 cm in height. The basal leaves are oval-lanceolate with truncated bases and toothed edges, and the upper leaves are linear. The cylindrical spike about 4 cm long is borne and blooms small red-violet flowers from June to August.
