アメリカのテキサス州南部に分布しています。地面を這うように広がります。葉は長楕円形で、しばしば深裂したり鋸歯があったりします。３月から１０月ごろ、青紫色の花を咲かせます。

ナス科ホオズキ属の一年草で、学名は Physalis lobata (syn. Quincula lobata)。英名は Purple ground-cherry。

The Purple ground-cherry (Physalis lobata) belongs to Solanaceae (the Nightshade family). It is an annual herb that is distributed in southern Texas, the United States. It spreads in a ground-crawling habit. The leaves are oblong-elliptic, often deeply lobed and serrated, and the blue-purple flowers bloom from March to October.
