北アメリカの北東部が原産の「アメリカてまりしもつけ（Physocarpus opulifolius）」の園芸品種です。新芽が伸びるとき、日が射す葉は真っ黄色に、日陰の葉は黄緑色に色づくのが特徴です。高さは１〜１．５メートルほど。５月から６月ごろ、散房花序をつけて白い花を咲かせます。和名では「おうごんてまりしもつけ（黄金手毬下野）」と呼ばれます。

バラ科テマリシモツケ属の落葉低木で、学名は Physocarpus opulifolius cv. Luteus。英名は Dwarf golden ninebark。

The Dwarf golden ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius cv. Luteus) belongs to Rosaceae (the Rose family). It is a small deciduous tree that is a garden variety of the "Ninebark" (Physocarpus opulifolius), which is native to northeastern North America. When new shoots grow, the leaves in full sun turn bright yellow, while those in shade turn yellowish green. It is about 1 to 1.5 m tall and produces white flowers in corymbs from May to June. Its Japanese name is "黄金手毬下野" (meaning "Golden ball meadowsweet").
